Hello & welcome to my site! My name is Kelcie and this little webpage is my creative cooking space. I love to create recipes, master old time favorites, try new recipes, & tweak them to my taste buds.
I decided to start my own little cooking blog after countless conversations with other women who would say “I wish I had more time to cook” , “I wish I knew how to cook”, or “you make it sound so easy”. Ladies and gents, it CAN be easy. Believe me, I’m no master chef by any means. I’m just a girl who loves to eat without the fat price tag of a fancy restaurant.
My journey in cooking starts from a young age hanging out in the kitchen with my Mother. My Mom could seriously make something from nothing. She’s one of those cooks who just adds a little of this and a little of that without measuring. How, I have no idea, but maybe one day I’ll be on that level. But the story really begins when I took a leap of faith and moved clear across the country for the first time.
After moving from Florida to Utah in the spring of 2016 to take a chance on love and to pursue a new career, my boyfriend/future husband would leave for his work for 6 months. Being new to Utah and all alone I found comfort in cooking during my free time. One, I was on a tight income, so I couldn’t be frivolously eating out all the time. Two I wanted to impress my man when he returned with my cooking skills. You know what they say, “the way to a mans heart is through his stomach”. Fast forward to now, I’m blissfully married to my husband Ruben and whippin up tasty dishes in my kitchen on the daily.
In my opinion, people are loosing the art and experience of cooking and with apps like post mates its making it easier than ever to never cook. For me there is something so natural and primal about cooking. Making a dish with your own two hands, the smell of fresh cilantro as you chop it, the sound of a steak as it sears, or the aroma of a sauce as it simmers. These are the beautiful things you miss out on when you just order out. We were not meant to just consume food, but to experience it.
So if you have ever said “I just don’t have the time to cook” or “I have no idea how to even peal a mango” I invite you into my kitchen to learn how. Cooking does not have to be complicated or elaborate to be delicious. I’m living proof that you can go from making a PB&J to making a creamy chicken pasta that your family and friends will die over.
I hope you enjoy my recipes and are inspired to create a few of your own.
Happy cooking my dears!
